{Perk up} TCP Tuesday 344

Hello everyone,

I'm back with a TCP Tuesday challenge card. This month's pick is the popular coffee/tea theme, which gave me a chance to pick up my Verve stamp set Better With You and pair it with the TCP's Watercolor Basics stamp set aka coffee spill set. :)

I used water color pencils for the to go cups and layered the spill spot using Distress Ink mixed with a bit water, works like a charm.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a great start to your week!

{Hello, hello, a cheerful hello} SFYTT 57

Hi everyone,

I'm back with one more card today. This one is for this month's Reverse Confetti Sketch for you to try challenge. You can see the sketch a bit further below in my blog post. I was in the mood for something jazzy, something with dimension and graphic. And that's how I ended up with this card here:

the inside:

So...for this card I used the hello die from the Hello & Thanks Label. The toucan sans saying are both from the Toucan of Friendship set. Both of these products are from Reverse Confetti. The circular dies are from My Favorite Things.

{You're in luck} TCP Tuesday

hi there,

I needed a break from working and learning so I decided to play along with this week's TCP Tuesday challenge, which is all about green and gold. Now if you're like me...I don't have a whole lot of gold laying around so I had to dig deep in my embellishment pile and ...like my card says "you're in luck" and I found some brads, gears and distress Stickles glitter. yay!! I also paired something old with something new and that's cute Sprinkle here, she's a retired rubber (!) stamp from the Cat's Pajamas...as well as the sentiment. The bingo card however is one of the newer TCP stamp sets so that one is still up for grabs.

Here's a little detail up close and personal shot:

oh and the sentiment on the inside (not pictured here) says "nothing is impossible". The papers I used are scraps from one of October Afternoon's older paper pads as well as Papertrey Inks Itty bitty square pad.

thanks so much for stopping by!!

{my umbrella} Stamp Medley

Hi everyone,

it's been raining almost this entire week here in San Francisco so no wonder I was inspired to make a rainy day umbrella card but here's the thing...I didn't necessarily have the perfect stamp for what I wanted to do so I decided to mix and match stamps from different sets. The cutie you see here is PJ from the Cat's Pajama's set "A Beary Good Year" ( I think this set is retired now sadly) and the umbrella and the sentiment are from the Verve set "Rain or Shine". I colored the bear using copic markers and added some frosted lace stickles to his belly and nose for added sparkle. I paper pieced the umbrella, colored over it and then added some crystal effect to get the shiny plastic look. The stitching behind the umbrella is the rain.

thanks so much for stopping by and hope you stay dry!!

{the nicest place} TCP Tuesday

Hi everyone,

I dusted off some of my very favorite stamping sets and this happens to be one of them...it's called Happy Camper and is from the Cat's Pajamas. I love Alma's style and this one is just so cute...and I don't even like camping but anywho... I decided to play along with this weeks TCP Tuesday challenge which is the 3-2-1 challenge:
Use 3 different patterned papers - check
2 different types of embellishments (die cuts, buttons, brads, gems, pearls, etc) - check
and 1 type of twine, seam binding or ribbon - and check.

cool....what a fun and different challenge. My card is pretty straight forward...I used die cuts for the grass, clouds, the banner flag and the corner. I used a polka dot embossing folder for the clouds. I used Copics to color and blend...and then a sponge and some ink to darken down the edges. Some jute twine for accents and of course some stickles glitter for the spark. :) I've recently switched over to using hot glue for everything on my cards. Yes I do burn myself a bit more often these days but at least I know my cards won't fall apart in a week or two so it's worth it. :)

have a nice weekend everyone and see you back soon!!

{XO} January Diva Inspiration Blog Hop

Happy new year everyone!!!

I'm back!! I had to take a few months off from stamping because I moved and apparently I'm the posterchild for how-not-to-move because my move took about 3 months. lol What a nightmare! But I'm finally fully moved and settled in...so now I can complain about the high rent prices here in San Francisco...just kidding lol...the prices are ridiculous though. Anyway...enough about me....I have a new card for you!!

So my card today was inspired by none other than the Queen Bey...yup you heard right...one of my favorite songs on Beyonce's new album happens to be XO so here's my take on it. :) I used stamps from the Verve set  'Remember This' to stamp the days and the banner on the top. I also used the matching Banner Bundle die set to cut out the banner. Then for final touches I just distressed the edges, added buttons and most importantly the "X"...which is also my shine. :)

Our January challenge is:

The year is shiny and new, so let's add shimmer and shine to our cards.
Think glitter, sequins, rhinestones, pearls, heat embossing - anything with some gloss.
Need a little inspiration? Check out the blogs linked below to see what our Divas did with the challenge! It's sure to be a treat, and speaking of treats, we've got a prize for one lucky commenter along the hop! Check out the Verve Blog today for all the prize info and deadlines.

And here's the 300th sketch:

uh hum you may notice I took some creative liberties with the sketch but lol that's just what I do. :)
Life has been particularly turbulent for me lately so when I saw the little sentiment {life}...that was exactly how I felt. Couldn't have said it any better...don't you feel that way sometimes? Where all you can say is...this is life. All the ups and downs, so much happening...good and bad....but sometimes you don't even know what's happening, so many things are happening so fast.
That's how it's been for me lately so I really enjoyed making this card because it gave me a moment to relax and just focus on one thing at a time. It was great!!

Now to the ingredients of my card...I used the flowers from the Verve Set Surely Goodness. The sentiment is from the set Remember This. I used a lot of Dies for this one...so here's that list: Banner Bundle Die, Flat It Die, Goodness Flowers Die, Notebook Die. And that's about it...

thanks so much for stopping by!!!
Next up on your hop is the amazingly fabulous Susan Liles!!!!

Now is the perfect time to get those Verve stamps you've been wanting to get!!!!

Okay now that you know about all the stuff that's going on....let me fill you in on my card and give you a brief little update on what's new with me at home and then I send you on your merry way to Susan!!! Orrr if you'd just like to skip all that chitchat then go right ahead...Susan is your next stop!!!

Life has been a little rough and stressful all around lately...my dad's cancer is back and unfortunately it's spread to his lungs and brain, then there's the pressure of this being my last term in school, will I get a job, where will I get a job, and then to top things off my personal life has also gotten a bit complicated... sooo basically everything in my life has a big question mark written all over it and there are times when it gets a bit much and I know you all know how that feels and I finally got to the point where I said 'enough is enough'. I refuse to let all this stuff get me down. It's not like I can do anything about it anyway...I do what I can and the rest is out of my hands and in God's hands...and really that's the best place for them to be so what am I so worried about?!
lol yes those are the kind of conversations I have with myself sometimes... :)

So long story short...I decided I could use a little sunshine in my life and that made me pull out the set Let It Shine and when I looked at it I came up with the idea of turning the sun into a sunflower, my favorite flower!!! The rest just sort of came together...I was going for a fun, carefree, scrappy look that wasn't all that organized and perfectly layed out so I just kept adding stuff. :) Great fun way to craft because you have no idea what you'll end up with and you don't necessarily care all that much about the result either because you had so much fun making it you know it'll shine through. :)

thank you so much for stopping by today!!!
Have a wonderful day and say hi for Sus  for me please!!!! :)

{Carpe Diem} Diva Inspiration

Hi Guys,

Finals are almost over...just one more project and a test to go, I have to put a new demo reel together and then I'm officially on vacation!!! Yay!!! lol Before all hell breaks loose again because next term will be my last term meaning I need to put together an amazing demo reel so I can get a job. In case you're new to my blog and don't know what I'm up to...I'm a Visual FX artist so think 3D, computer animation that sorta stuff. :) Super fun but like any art very time consuming.

Some of you have asked me about my stamping process so I thought I'd share that with you today. I have a few different ways I approach stamping but here's my foolproof, works-every-time and especially when you're in a time crunch approach:
I like to have at least two images in front of me before I start a card...a sketch and something that inspires me...that could be another card, a photo, a pattern I saw somewhere....anything along those lines. And it could be different things that inspire me about that image...it could be the color scheme, the layout, the stamps that were used...a particular style I like...anything really.
For this card for example I was inspired by this amazing card my dear friend Susan Liles
made for our last Diva Inspiration Blog hop:

As you can see I just fell in love with the colors and the shiny flowers and that's
what I carried over into my card.
All I needed now was an interesting sketch to get me started...and that's usually all I need them for because I tend to wander off and change them in some way or another anyway. I really loved last week's Viva La Verve sketch that Tosha had come up with. It has lots of layers and lots of opportunities to play around with.

All I had to do now was pick the stamps I wanted to use, the papers and put it all together. I chose the hibiscus flowers from the Verve set Happy Days and the sentiment from the Verve set Words of Wisdom. The papers I used are from October Afternoon's Fly a Kite collection.
Once I had the basic layout and placement figured out I just kept on adding details and embellies until I was happy. And that's about it....

thanks so much for stopping by!!
til next time,

Sony :)

{One Day...} June Diva Inspiration Blog Hop

Hi Guys and Welcome to our June Diva Inspiration Blog Hop!!
If you're hopping right along from the start than you probably just got here from Sankari's Blog, right?! Perfect...oh and if you haven't then let me point you to where all the fun starts: Betty's Blog.

We have some news for you (aaand a full list of Diva eye candy I might add)...some changes to our teams and two fabulous new Plain Jane's Julee has come up with for you...one of them you can see here on my card!! I feel like I've lived my life by this saying...especially this year. Sometimes it's just wiser to take it one day at a time because if you don't you can get easily overwhelmed but anybody can do one day at a time. :)

I've been drinking a lot of coffee lately so this card was actually inspired by the coffee shop I go to and its' decor. The cute little coffee cup stamp is from the Verve set Delightful and Delicious. A lot of distressing, stitching and cute little accents  finish it up. :)

So a quick little update on how I'm doing before I'll direct you on your merry hop way. :)
I was so very fortunate to have gotten an internship this term and it was great. I learned a lot and some of you may have already seen my work on TV. :) I have one more week left to finish up this term and an insane amount of work left to do but nothing a few hours less sleep can't fix. And then one more term after that and then it's time to graduate and find a job! Ah!! lol Good times...but before I do that I am going out of town for a week to see my family and I plan on doing a whole lot of relaxing by the pool and the beach. :)

okay that's about it for me... Your next stop on the Hop is Susan!!!!

Have a great start of the Summer!!!!

{What's Shaking?} Viva La Verve

Hello,

Have you had a chance to play along with this months' Viva La Verve challenges? I hope you have because the sketches so far have already been amazing and are sure to just keep on getting better and better. :) In case you haven't heard of Viva La Verve I'll post all the deets for ya at the end of this post.

First let me show you this week's sketch by Miss Andrea:

and now a little more info on my card:
I love love LOVE this bunny Julee designed. I think it's the cutest thing ever...don't ya just love that tail?! It reminds me of the squirrels at my parents house. Those are some cute little rascals. Nearly every time they hear the car pull out of the garage they hop to the garage and wait for my mom to throw some peanuts to them. Some of them come so close she can feed them by hand!! One time the door to the garage was open and one of them made it all the way inside on top of the cabinet where the bucket with the peanuts were. lol Imagine my mom's face when she walked into the garage to see the squirrel there!! I don't know who was more surprised...the squirrel or my mom! lol
Anyway back to the card... the bunny and sentiment are from the Verve mini set Bunny Shake.

I cut out the sentiment using Verve's Charming Banner Die Set and layered that on top of Verve's Charming Oval Die Set. The papers I used are from Cosmo Crickets' Earth Love collection and October Afternoon's Fly a Kite. Then all I did was added stitching, some ribbon and a button with some twine.
Oh and I almost forgot...I added liquid applique to the bunny's tail for some fluffiness and some glitter to the bunny. {of course lol I can't seem to make a card that doesn't have glitter on it somewhere :)}

now let me fill you in on the Viva La Verve deets:

Every Friday, a Diva will post a sketch for your enjoyment. Your cards, using the sketches, must be uploaded by the last Thursday of the month (check for the due date below!) The winner will be announced on the next day and will win a $100 gift certificate to VERVE! How awesome is that?! Just a reminder, Verve stamps are NOT required but we love to see you use them. Feel free to flip, rotate, resize, or otherwise alter the sketch as long as we can tell you USED the sketch!

For January, we'll have FOUR sketches! All FOUR cards must be uploaded to the VLVJan2012 gallery by midnight, CST on Thursday, February 1st to be eligible to win this month's prize! Winner will be announced on February 2nd! GOOD LUCK!

Keywords for the entire month will be VLVJan2012 and Verve (if using Verve stamps).

thanks so much for stopping by!!

{Live} Viva La Verve and an Update

Hi guys,

I wanted to give you an update on my dad before I jump into my card and stuff. After the initial round of chemo it was a little rough going at home. Dad is a difficult patient to say the least (who's dad isn't?) and it is really a huge transition for both of my parents. My mom used to be the one who was sick for many years and my dad was the one in charge. Now it's the other way around and well...let's just say it takes both of them some getting used to. ;)
Thankfully things got better and dad even managed to keep his weight up, which is really something to celebrate because chemo kills your taste buds. We were at the store pretty much every day, buying something for my dad. If he were a woman you'd thought he was pregnant!!! One day he wanted bean salad, the next one he wanted watermelon. lol But the most important thing was that he ate.
Today he starts his second round of chemo.

here's a picture of my mom and dad :)
If you'd like to send him and my mom a card...here's their address:
Norbert and Gisela Christoph
PO Box 560490
Rockledge, FL 32956

It means a great deal to him to get a card in the mail so if you have one to spare,
it would really make his day. Thank you kindly from me in advance!!

Speaking of cards...let me talk about my card:
Amber had a superfun sketch over at Viva La Verve and since I was trying to get rid of my jet lag (go figure I'm still on Eastern standard time :P) I thought stamping would be just the thing to do to stay awake lol.

Here's the sketch Amber came up with:

The sentiment and the cute little arrow are both from the Verve set Words of Wisdom. To get the tab I used the Sizzix on the Edge File Tab die and found out that the smaller sentiments of the Words of Wisdom set fit perfectly into the tab!!!! I mean PERFECTLY!!!! It was as if they were meant to go together!!! lol  Small things like that just make my day :)
Okay let's get back to the card...the flowers are from the set Verve set Amazing Wishes and that just leaves the cute Graph paper stamp with the matching die.

The papers I used are from Cosmo Crickets Garden Variety and Boyfriend collection. Some ribbon, stitching, flowers and glitter complete the card. :)

thanks so much for stopping by!!!
'til next time,

Sony :)

{OMG} SFYTT

Hello everyone,

it's the very first Saturday of July...already. Are you ready for summer to start?! I know I am...although I probably won't get to see too much of it...being inside so much all the time buuut this weekend is definitely going to be a ton of fun. Tonight a bunch of my friends from school are going out, to celebrate end of finals (for some) and the beginning of a new term and then tomorrow I'm going to another friends' BBQ and then on monday I have a feeling I'm just going to do a ton of hugging my pillow and catching up on homework in front of the tv. :) My kinda weekend. :)

So let's talk cards tho shall we?!
Guess who our sponsor over at SFYTT is this month: it is My Favorite Things!!! You definitely want to check Jen's Blog for details on the deets, the prize this month aaand that's where you'll also upload your creations.

For my sample here I'm using the Die-Namics Say What Die & Stamp Set aaand can I tell you I LOVE this set?! I really really do and not just because you can do sooo many things with it but because it is also the perfect set for the so hard to make teenager cards. I'm sure you all know exactly what I'm talking about...so this right here, is cool enough even for the "hippest" teenagers. ;)

oh and the sketch...hehe...I almost forgot: love this sketch as well...so much fun. I got a little carried away and did a little more tilting aaand some additional layering but I'm sure you won't mind, right?! :)

Ready for some more eye candy?!
Stop by my amazing sisters for some more inspiration:
First of a very hearty and big welcome to Debbie Carriere -she is our fabulous Guest Designer this month and will be featured on Jen's Blog

thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome weekend!!
