{Bearing Gifts...} TCP Tuesday 139

Merry Christmas to you all!!!

It is our very last 2010  TCP Tuesday challenge and this weeks' challenge is a sketch challenge, cooked up by our Hipster Hostess Alma. Play along for a chance of winning $25 in Cat Cash and being crowned the Swankiest Stamper of the month!!! For all the deets please stop by Alma's Blog HERE.

Ouh and before I forget...here's the sketch:

I did something a little bit different this week: I used the sketch to decorate the gifts I'm giving to my hair stylist and my pilates instructor. Wanna know what's in it? Trader Joe's sea salt covered dark chocolate caramels...ooh they are SOO good!!! lol
I got the idea for the gift wrapping from my very talented and clever SFYTT Sister Megan Lock. She made this cutie here for last week's SFYTT challenge.

Tips'n Tricks: to get that full beautiful flower-like medallion cut out two lotuses and simply layer them on top of each.

Here are some detail shots from my project:

Thank you so much for stopping by and Happy Holidays!!!

{Thinking of You...} SFYTT

Hi Everyone,

it's time for our last SFYTT challenge for this year...my where did the time go?! This week you get to pick one of your favorite SFYTT sketches from the past and make a new card with it!

And as promised we are doing things a wee bit different next year: instead of a weekly sketch we will do a monthly sketch challenge instead. That gives all of us a little bit more time to play along. We will continue to have sponsors for some if not even all months so stay tuned and check in with us to see what goodies you can win.
We're also saying good-bye to our dear friend and sister Jenn D. and hello to our new sister Kerry Johnson. I think those are all the changes we have for you.

I'm sad to say I had to make a sympathy card this week: one of our Seniors from church passed away and the funeral is today. He wasn't feeling all that well and had to go to the hospital but I don't think anybody in his family expected him to go just yet ...especially now with christmas just being around the corner...but then we never know God's timetable, the only thing we do know is that he knows best and everything happens for a reason.

I don't have all that many sympathy stamps but thankfully Julee's set Kind Words comes with a thinking of you, a with sympathy and some beautiful silhouetted flowers that I could use. I really need to get me her Forever In Our Hearts set.
I felt that my flowers needed a little spark to them so I added some Crystal Effects, Liquid Pearls and a Rhinestone for that last sparkly touch :).

thanks so much for stopping by and be sure to stop by my sisters to see which sketch they chose to recycle :)

{Twinkle, Twinkle} Mojo 168

Hi everyone,
I'm very excited because my very first official Term in the CG program is coming to an end and 3 of my final projects are done...I only have 1 more left to work on...which also means I have more time to stamp....YAY!!! Well this week at least...I'm going out of town next week. Wow...this year has really flown by hasn't it?! I can't believe it's almost 2011 already!!

So I got to play along with this week's Mojo Monday sketch!!
Super fun and totally needed because a friend of mine just had her little baby girl. In case you're wondering why I chose these somewhat un-typical baby colors you'd have to meet my friend and it would all make sense to you. lol
You'll notice I made a little change to the sketch by replacing the little square
with a circle to accommodate my stamp.

thanks so much for stopping by,

~ Sony

Hi everyone,

it's TCP Tuesday time and Susan is our hostess with the mostess this week and she's challenging us to use any Cat's Pajamas Holiday Stamps!!!

I dug through my Cat's Pajamas' stash and came across one of my all-time favorite clearly swanky winter-y set: Candyland Christmas.
I have a wee bit of a sweettooth sooo anything candy related and then with Sprinkle, Poochie and the little rascal-y penguins to boot...how can you say no?!

It's also been ages that I've been able to play along with a Mojo Monday challenge so I'm very happy to say I was able to play along with last week's sketch.

@ the LA Zoo

Hi guys,

well my storyboarding class went to the Zoo this morning, to practice sketching from live animals and I took my camera along to take some pictures for reference so I thought I'd share some of those moments with you all.

Have you ever seen a pregnant Meerkat? Meerkat #3, all the way to the right is expecting :)

...and yes that is duct tape around his foot...who knows what happened there

being a Koala Bear must be tough...

 and that's all folks :)

til next time,

Sony :)

{Did Someone Say Snow?} SFYTT

{Tell it to the Paw} TCP Tuesday 137

Hii guys,

have you awoken out of your thanksgiving food coma yet?! No? lol I don't blame you...I'm pretty sluggish going back to school today myself but I've only got two weeks left so no time to waste, final projects have to be done by then.

BUT it is my turn this week as TCP Tuesday hostess with the mostess to challenge you with another fun color combo and since christmas is just around the corner I thought let's go with a fun icy cool Winter Wonderland theme.

Your colors this week are: Aqua, Ice Blue and Lavender.

For my cutie here I used one of my favorite brandnew released sets by the Cat's Pajamas: Big Bear. Isn't he just adorable?!
And you can dress him up for all occasions if you wanted to: you could put a birthday hat on him, put a present in front of him, give him a clover, put a flower on his head...possibilities are endless.
I also used our brandnew Big Scallop CutUps for the top of the card. It's a fabulous Border Die!!!

Now here are all the deets:
1. Each a week one of The Cat’s Pajamas DT members will host a challenge.
2. The challenges will vary {stamp, technique, color, theme, sketch, etc.}
3. You will have until the end of the month to complete the challenge.
4. Link to your post using the Inlinkz button at the bottom of Alma's Blog.
5. TCP stamps are not required, but of course, highly encouraged. {Unless it is a challenge calling for a specific stamp}
6. There will be one winner each month. They will be deemed that month’s Swankiest Stamper and get $25 in Cat’s Cash {money to spend on the TCP site!}.
7. Only designs posted to the Alma's blog will be considered for the Swanky Stamper.
8. The newly crowned Swanky Stamper will be announced on the First of the Month and have his/her winning entry posted on The Cat’s Pajamas website where he/she will reign for the entire month.

so thank you very much for stopping by!

{a Warm Latte} Giftcardholders

Hi everyone,

I made these cute and easy giftcard holders for our latest release at The Cat's Pajamas.
All you need to make your own version of these is some felt, ribbon, a hot glue gun, a sewing machine and some embellies -  I used stamps from Like You A Latte and You Suit Me here.

Cut out a strip of felt that measures about 3x6", fold it in half and start sewing around the edges.
Apply some hot glue to the top, stick the ribbon on it and do the same on the other side.
Now all you have left to do is embellish and you're done!!

Thanks so much for stopping by!!!

{From our house to yours} SFYTT

Happy weekend everybody!!
Are you as excited as I am?! Well as you're reading this I'm hopefully still sleeping because I took a little break from being a student and worked last night in my old job as Assistant Director, which I still enjoy...but all in measures. ;)
Anyway...it is Saturday so that can only mean that Jen has created another fun sketch for us and I can't even tell you how much I love sketch challenges. They are such a great starting point and at least for me that's always that hardest part. Once I started...it's all smooth sailing...well not always but for the most part. :)

Sooo I'm also throwing another Sneak Peek in for you from the cutest little penguins out there!!! They are by the Cat's Pajamas and part of our newest release which will be available November 23rd.
Mark your calendars for our Release Party which will be Monday November 22nd at 7-9pm EST/4-6pm PST at our SCS Forum.

A little about my card:
Well I sorta cheated and turned this sketch into a square. ;) Work's like a charm don't it?! lol
I went a little overboard with embellishing these cute penguins: I added glitter to the carpet, the socks and the present; I also added some Crystal Effect to the penguins and some Crackle Paint to the fireplace...oh and last but not least I added some Liquid Applique to the Santa Hat and one of the socks. :)
Oh and see the fun loop-y border and that fabulous scallop border on top?! Those are some of our brandnew Cat's Pajamas' CutUps dies, also available November 23rd. I just cut them here using some of the wood veneer sheets Alma carries as well.

Please stop on by my amazing SFYTT sisters!!! They are all so talented and creative it makes me nausious (oh shoo...quick... spellcheck where are you?) lol
Jen del Muro and a big hearty welcome

Hello everyone,

I have to say I'm so happy we got to set our clocks one hour back because I really really hate waking up before the sun is out in the morning but I love working when it's dark out so that it's dark come 5pm is just purrr-fect for me. :) I don't know is that weird??? Or do you feel the same way?

Well it's definitely feeling like fall in LA...I hope it lasts for a little while longer because I just love it when it starts to get a bit cooler, the winds pick up and christmas goodies are starting to pop up all over the place. :)

{Define Good} SFYTT & TCP Sneak Peek

Hi guys,

and welcome back for another amazing SFYTT sketch challenge with a little Cat's Pajamas' Sneak Peek snuck in there as well for ya. ;)

Well...this week was a bit rough for me because we (my parents and I) found out on Tuesday that my dad has colon cancer. We don't know what stage it is yet but surgery has been mentioned, which is somewhat comical because my dad is SO anti-hospital and anti-doctor really and now he's going to be seeing a whole lot of both. Oh the irony of it all....poor dad. :(
Today my parents went and saw their primary care physician, just to get his thoughts and most importantly a referral to a surgeon...soooo things are moving forward, I survived my solid hangover from Tuesday night with lots of Advil, sleep and water and we're hoping for the best. :)

So let me get to chat a little about this cutie -pie bunny over here: This bunny here is part of the new release over at The Cat's Pajamas.
Mark your calendars: the Release Party will be on Monday November 22nd, 2010 at 7-9pm EST and 4-6pm PST @ our SCS Forum.

I also got to use some of our CutUps with some red felt for accent touches: the icing border and the Big Scallop Border. Looove these!!! SO handy!!!

Well...be sure to stop by and see what my SFYTT Sisters have come up with:

Hi everyone,

it's Saturday!!! Yay right?! Although this Saturday means that November is literally knocking on our doorsteps and you know what that means...christmas and finals are only a flash away!! Yaaayy...I mean yikes for the finals part but yay for christmas, spending time with family and friends, the smell of cinnamon and hot chocolate, having a little time off from school....oh yes - my favorite time of the year! :)

But we're not quite there yet so let's look at this super fun SFYTT sketch from the fabulous Jen del Muro. I needed to make a few more thanksgiving cards so I scowered my stamp stash and found this cute Clearly Swanky Set by the Cat's Pajamas called Gobble It Up. I had almost forgotten I had this one...isn't Sprinkle just too cute?!
Oh which reminds me: The Cat's Pajamas'  has a new release coming up in a few weeks and I'm sure you'll get to see plenty of Sneak Peeks over the next couple of days so stay tuned for sure!!

Okay...ready to see what else you can do with this sketch?! Check out my amazingly talented SFYTT Sisters:
