{A Fiery Hi} TCP Tuesday 124

Happy Tuesday everyone,

are you ready for another TCP Tuesday challenge?!
This week it's Leigh's turn to challenge us with
one of her fun sketches and this one here really has sooo many possibilities...lol...I can't wait to see what you make out of this one. :)

I threw in a little Verve (the frames and the Hi) this time because I thought the brandnew, just released Happy Hello set was just purrr-fect for this card and a match made in heaven with my little TCP dragon. :)

Notice also the lack of stitching in this one...hehe...well okay I did do some paper piercing but I really really couldn't help myself. lol

I made the flowers using our new Flower Die and threaded some fun black and white Divine Twine through them, all of which are available at the Cat's Pajamas.

I hope you get the chance to play along with us!!!
You could win $25 in Cat Cash and be crowned the Swanky Stamper of the month AND you really want that extra Cash because we've got a new release coming up and it's going to be AWESOME!!!! ;)
Visit us in our SCS Forum for all the deets on how to play along!!

thanks so much for stopping by!!!

{Do It Grunge-style}

So here's another card I had made for the Verve Sneak Peeks with my
target audience being the oh-so-difficult-to-make-cards-for teenage boys!
To make this layout work I had to elongate my card
a little, so this one is actually 4 x 6.25

I used the brandnew release Verve set Fabulous You
and then I just went to town with my rounded corner punch
and distressing textures. lol

To get that worn, grungy look of the frame I stamped it in Night of Navy, then clear embossed it and then sponged Lake Mist and Pebble ink over it. To finish it all off I worked it over with my scissors.

thanks so much for stopping by!!
Have a GREAT week!!

{Take Flight} SFYTT

are you ready for another SFYTT challenge?!

My card this week features the cute Fred, the bear from My Favorite Things and it's the very first time I got to ink him up. :) I've been so busy lately my poor MFT stamps haven't seen my stamping area in quite some time...until now. YaY!!!

So as you can see I took a few liberties with this sketch and replaced some the smaller circles with clouds that I cut out using MFT's cloud Die-namics and then propped up on Pop-Up Dots. I also inked them up a little around the edges so they'd be easier to see.

To add even more to the fun of it all I decided to layer three different colored ribbons and add a little knotted bow.

I hope you're ready to see what my amazing Sisters have come up with.

{The Best Day Ever}

Here's another one of my Verve Sneak Peek cards I had made
for the amazing release Julee just had this month!!
I had soo much fun playing with these stamps here, it
was really hard for me to put them down. lol

So for this card I used the small but fine set Framed Wishes, which you
can only get as a little gift for purchasing $35 worth of stamps at this point but I do believe Julee is going to make this set available for purchase as well at some point.

I went a little nuts with my unfurry Linen Thread (available over at the Cat's Pajamas), adding a double bow to the big button on the right, having some longer pieces sticking out
from the smaller buttons and then adding two knots to the thread that's wrapping
around my card on the left. It worked and I had fun...what can I say?! lol

~ til next time,

The challenge: Use your Cat's Pajamas stamps, create something fabulous and link it to Alma's Blog!!!

In anticipation of this grand event some of us Cat Packers' have put together a little Blog Hop for all of you and the fun starts right here!!!

I came up with this card here, which was inspired by this week's Taylored Expressions sketch challenge and happens to be one of my personal favorites...lol of course it's monochromatic, has lots of stuff goin' on and features a sparkly Poochie shooting it up western-style.

here's a little detail shot of the bullet holes and Poochie Poo:

{Just Because}

Hi Guys,

if you were at the Verve Release Party last Friday then you've already seen this card here because I snuck in a little peek of it there.
Anyway, I was so very lucky to join the Divas this month and what a blast it was!!

And because I don't want it to all be just over yet I'm now posting this card here that I had made for the release. (I'll be posting another one next monday ;).
It features Julee's brand new set Great Friend, which has these gorgeous Flowers and a few fabulous sentiments to go with it as well.
The Flourish on the top right is from the Verve set Blue Skies.

I did a lot of heavy paper distressing with two different colored inks and scissors. I stamped and embossed the flowers with Kaleidoscope Embossing Powder, which has a pretty sparkle to it and then I colored them in using Copic Markers. To make them appear even more 3 dimensional I took my x-acto knife and cut around some of the petals and flipped them up. An antique brad serves as the perfect center piece.

Here are some detailed shots:

Thanks so much for hanging with me this month!!

Getting ready for fall...

I know I'm a little early, changing my blog over to its' fall look but I just have this feeling that I'm going to be extremely busy over the next couple of weeks (big things are happening over at the Cat's Pajamas) sooo since I've had time today I thought why not... I'm bringing in fall a little early over here ...well in theory at least ...it's been ridiculously hot in LA lately.

hope you like the new look :)

{For Boys}

***PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR MY SFYTT POST ***

I had some extra time this morning sooo I decided to make that birthday card
I've been meaning to make for one of our young people at church. He's in his
early twenties and that age group can be a bit tricky to make cards for but oh
well here I go... :)

I really loved all of Julee's sketches she came up with for her latest and I think one of her greatest release yet - I still can't seem to put them down so what you see here is a hybrid mix from the Framed Wishes set (frame and sentiment) and the
Birthday Bash set (the balloons).
I wanted to add glitter or bling SO bad to this card soo instead I made a compromise with myself and added Crystal Effects to the balloons. :)

thanks so much for stopping by!!!
Have you shopped for your new Verve yet?!
What did you get?? I'm nosy - I wanna know lol

~ Sony

Stamps: Framed Wishes (Verve), Birthday Bash (Verve)

Accessories: Mini Library Clip (SU), Ribbon, Olive Thread, Sewing Machine, Crystal Effects, Pop-Up Dots, Nesties

{old storybook romance} SFYTT & TGF

Happy Saturday everyone!!!

I have SO much to tell you I don't even know where to start?!
I'm super excited because I just found out last night that I got into my school's 2 year CG program!! YAY!!!
I wasn't sure whether I'd get in because in all honesty I hadn't really drawn or done any sort of art in the last ten years so over the past two months I've been trying to catch up and get a good portfolio together...I guess I succeeded!!!! :)
In case you're wondering: I'm studying Computer Animation/Visual Effects...that sorta stuff.

So that's one reason why I have an extra big smile on my face but there's another reason also: I'm sort of seeing someone...or would be if he lived in town. I know him from college but we hadn't really spoken since then until about two weeks ago when we reconnected on facebook. Now we talk almost every day and I'm supposed to go see him next month. :)

Oh and then I have one more reason to smile extra wide and that's
because my dear friend's husband, who was undergoing treatment for cancer, is in remission and cancer free!!!! If that's not reason to celebrate and have a cocktail, what is?!

Okay now that I've chattered you all an earful let's talk cards:
It's time for another great and fun sketch challenge brought to you by the one and only Jen del Muro AND we've got a sponsor for you this week: The Greeting Farm.
For all the deets on what goodies you can win and where to link your little masterpiece to, please stop by Jen's Blog.

I have to admit my mojo seems to be on a little vacation at the moment because it took me forever to get this card together and at first I wasn't all that happy with the way it had turned out but I looked at it again and all of a sudden it reminded me of the old storybooks my mom used to read to me when I was a kid...sniff sniff....look at me getting all sappy and sentimental on you... lol. Anyway...now I'm quite happy with the look I've achieved. :)

Are you ready to see what my other mojo-happy sisters have come up with?! Stop by their blogs and check it out:

{A Fairytale Wedding Gift Organizer} Verve Sneak Peek

*** Please scroll down for my SFYTT Post***

    Hi Guys,
I am sooo excited to share with you this little Sneak Peek project I made for Julee's latest release over at Verve.
I'm so lucky to have been invited to play along with the Divas this month...and what a fabulous month it is for Verve: 3 year anniversary and 8 new, stunning stamp sets!!!

    Sooo mark your calendars:
The Release Party will be on Friday August 20th
starting at 8pm EST/5pm PST at the Verve SCS Forum!!!

    Ohh and before I forget: one lucky commenter on a randomly chosen official Sneak Peek will win the sets being peeked that day so be sure to leave as many comments as you can. {wink wink}

Are you ready to get started with the Sneak Peeks??
Well ready or not...here's the very first one: these gorgeous stamps are from the set Love Story, an absolute must have for all the romance lovers out there.
This set couldn't have come at a better time for me because I have 3 weddings coming up in the next 9 months!! I see a lot of parties and hairspray coming my way lol

So I decided - the eternal organizer - to make a Wedding Gift Organizer for my friend who's getting married in Miami but lives out here in Cali, that way she won't lose her list on her way home.

This Wedding Gift Organizer is about 4.25" x 5.75" and it has a Bridal Shower and Wedding section with pockets for receipts for both events. I did sneak in the notebook page from the Blue Skies set (one of my all-time faves) but other from that all the stamps you see here are from Love Story. Oh and the words Bridal Shower, Wedding and Receipts are printed out from the computer.

here's what the divider pages look like:

and the pocket for the receipts:

Well you have another 10 stops to make so I don't want to keep you any longer. Thank you so much for stopping by!!! I hope I was able to put a little romance in your day today {wink} but if not then surely the rest of these fabulous Verve Divas will be able to do so...

see you soon for another Sneak Peek ;)

    {Late...} SFYTT

ugh...I've been so busy with school and stuff I completely forgot my friend's birthday and I haven't even had the chance to play with some of the my new PTI goodies I got in the mail sooo this SFYTT it's an all out stamp jambalaya for me.

I used the Library Card stamp and Pocket Die from PTI, the Book Mouse stamp from TGF, the 'Your Birthday' sentiment is from MFT and the 'LATE' is spelled out using TCP's Coolvetica Set. The colors are from this week's TCP Tuesday challenge, which I'm also really really late for and the sketch is of course from Jen's SFYTT challenge.
lol see I wasn't kidding when I said jambalaya

thanks so much for stopping by!
I gotta run again but I hope you have a wonderful weekend and why not get ink-y with us?! Jen's always looking out for her next Guest Designer!!

Not only am I back in full swing at school (we've had last week off due to Siggraph which is a huge CG&Animation convention) I'm also working on my portfolio because I have to have that ready at the end of the month (so I can apply to my school's 2 yr program in the fall)...oh and on top of that I have to have time for stamping...this is a busy month for me.

So with that being said let's chat cards a little:
It's Saturday and Jen has another great and versatile sketch for you all.
I decided to make a peek-a-boo window for my Shimmer Redkelp and Otto. These cuties are by Sweet November btw.
I've been doing quite a bit of colorful stamping this week, most of which I can't show you yet so I decided it was time for another subtle, dreamy monochromatic card so there you have it.

I added some Floral Wrapper, furry Jute Twine and messy stitching for texture. Oh and I also just got a Crop-a-dile Big Bite soo of course I had to use some Gromlets!! I also used some Gold Liquid Pearls to add little accents here and there and the adorable sentiment is from the Cat's Pajama's set A Whale of a Time.

The few patterned papers I used are from the Basic Grey Basics Manila paper pad...one of my new fave's.

thanks for stopping by!! Be sure to check out what my SFYTT Sisters have come up with! Oh and a big warm welcome to Ashley Nguyen Newell, our August Guest Designer!!
