Alma's Swanky Birthday Blog Hop

I hope you're not too busy with all your Memorial Day preparations because we have something fun to share with you: it's Alma's Birthday (well it will be on May 30th) and we've decided to celebrate with an impromptu Blog Hop!!!

What? You don't know who Alma is? Well you're missing out then let me tell 'ya. Alma is the swanky genius behind the Cat's Pajamas stamps. You have never heard of the Cat's Pajama's stamps? Well shoot what'cha waiting for? Click HERE and pay 'em a visit.

So back to the business of the Hop - if you came here from Tracy's Blog then you are so on track but if you just kinda sorta stumbled on this hop here then why don't you go pay Amy a visit because that's where all the fun starts.

It's also TCP Tuesday and the one and only Amy Rohl is challenging us to use Wood in our project...well I kinda jumped the gun with my project and had this already made up before we decided on the challenge so the only wood you'll find here today is the coaster holder...BUT if you come back tomorrow I'll have my "woody" card here for you and it's quite the cutie if I may say so!!! :)

Here's what I came up with for Alma:

I got these great photo coasters at Michaels and instead of putting a photo in them I got stampy with it, going with a drinking & cheers (in different languages) theme.

The coasters are of course accompanied by a matching card.

Here are some detailed shots:

The glittery jammin' penguins are from one of the new TCP sets Hola Tequila. The sentiment is from the Smells Like Cake set.

I used patterned papers from the Songbird collection by DCWV, Black & White Basics by Me&My Big Ideas and some Garden Variety papers by Cosmo Cricket.

Some of the images and sentiments on the Coasters are put together from different sets so let me see if I can piece it all together for you:

PJ, the bear and his cocktail are all from the A Beary Good Year set. The sentiments Skal and Prost were spelled using the Nightie alphabet set.

Sprinkle is from the Fun In The Sun set and the Tequila drinking Penguin is from the set Hola Tequila. Salud is from the (you'll never guess the name) Salud set. Poochie was a bit trickier: He is from the set Gobble It Up but his accessories are from the A Beary Good Year set. Cheers was spelled out using the Coolvetica alphabet set.

{Rockstar vs Cheerleader} Message Door Signs

Hi everyone,

here's a little project I made as a back up for the final round of the TGF Battle of Design Teams.

This week's challenge was about creating two coordinating projects, one for a girl and one for a boy.

I came up with these cute Door Signs that double as Mini Message Boards, one for a teenage boy and one for a young girl.

This project was actually super easy to make as soon as I had figured out the general layout. I really just

bought two unfinished frames at Michaels, painted them with acrylic paint, cut out some cork board for the middle or the picture part of the frames and then decorated them. That's it!

Can I point out a few fun details to you, if you don't mind?

Did you notice the fun rhinestones swirls and the cute little stars on my Anya board? I also added some Stickles Glitter to her pom pom's. :) And best of all: the glittery, pink push pin that was a lucky find at Michaels!!! Oh and are you wondering how I got my Cheerleader Anya to be this big? Easy, I took the stamped image and scanned it into the computer and from there I was able to make her bigger.

My Rockstar board has even more fun stuff to talk about: there are the screw brads that I've come to adore, some random staple action all over the frame and then I embossed a piece of candy wrapper paper and stuck that behind my drummer boy.

I also got some cute little skull and bones foam stickers. I stuck one of them on top of a patterned button and that's what you see in the bottom right corner. Let's see...did I forget anything? Oh yeah lol the mini safety pin that's holding in the note? That one came with an old Victoria Secret order. lol

{Fun with Flowers} a Verve Project Parade

It's officially Spring, isn't it? Well okay maybe not quite where you live yet but it's a comin'...I know it is. :) Just hang in there a bit longer!! :)

In celebration of Spring the Verve Divas have come up with a fun theme for this month's Verve Parade:

Fun With Flowers

Now this is such a broad theme that I had a really hard time deciding on what I wanted to do...seriously...I've been wrecking my head for a few days now until today.

I was talking to one of our young people in church today and I noticed that something was off. She wasn't her usual happy self so I asked her if anything was wrong. She started crying, saying that she didn't get into the college she wanted to get into. I gave her a big ole' hug and tried to tell her that that was a sign that God had something better in store for her somewhere else but of course something like this just sucks!

So this little project here is for her! I'm hoping it'll cheer her up a little!

My Project consists of an altered Notebook, a Paperclip turned Bookmark, and a Card.

I love how Joanne stamped silhouetted flowers behind a sentiment on one of her cards so I drew a little inspiration from her here for my notebook.

The layout for the card may look familiar to you and you're right if it does: I used this week's Mojo Monday sketch because I really enjoyed it and I wanted the book and card to look related but not have the same exact layout.

I used papers from the Quite Contrary collection by My Mind's Eye and the Bitty Box Basics by Papertrey Ink - they remind me so much of school. :)

The sentiment on front of the notebook is from Verve's Beautiful You set - such a beautiful set!! I love love love their sayings! So inspirational!

The silhouetted flowers are from Verve's Because of You set. The little flourish you see on the notebook and the card is from the Clear Dollar Stamps set Words of Sympathy.

The flower with the button on the altered notebook is the same flower as the bookmark and the one on the card and it's from the Verve set Wishful Elegance.

The sentiment on the card is from My Favorite Things.

You Can Do It - An Altered Notebook

I was having so much fun with this weeks Wednesday Stamp Club challenge that I just had to make something else over.

What's the challenge?

* reuse or recycle anything you can find that would work on your project

* use green or anything with a St. Patrick's Day theme

Well I don't have any MFT St. Patrick's Day related stamps yet

but I can definitely add some

green to my project. :) This time around I decided to give this plain, generic notebook (which you can see on the right) I found at the $1 bin at Michael's a good MFT makeover and this is what I ended up with (front and back):

I used Digi papers from the Cocoa Couture Paper Templates at ScrapGirls.

This is so great:

if you own photoshop they provide a pattern for you and you get to decide the color scheme!! I love that!!! Plus it's always right there on your computer - so easy to use, print on white card stock paper you can buy at Staples and you're ready to go. Awesome!

Oh and the little strips of green you see are from the Girl Friday collection by Cosmo Cricket.

I love coupling all these sassy sayings MFT has with images that gives them a double meaning...like here: I coupled my zen focused WTG girl with the saying "You Can Do It" fromEssential Sentiments as a little reminder

to breathe again. :)

It's Wednesday Stamp Club time but not only that... it's also MFT VIP Day!!

This week and in honor of St. Patrick's Day we are going green - meaning

* reuse or recycle anything you can find

* use green or anything with a St. Patrick's Day theme.

I used an old CD I had laying around and gave it a good ole' makeover until I ended up with a Picture frame Magnet.

I saw this idea and I thought it was during the Verve Spring Fling but now I can't find the original post to save my life. Isn't it just pure genius though? What an awesome idea!!

More about my little magnet:

I used papers from the Quite Contrary collection by My Mind's Eye. That collection is quickly becoming my favorite!!

The sentiment and my girl on the scooter are both from the Joy Ride set by MFT. I love how the sentiment kind of looks like a street sign. I did a little paper piecing on the scooter and colored the rest in with Copic Markers.

The picture was taken during my Italy Trip two years ago. There's me (20 pounds heavier - darn that heavenly Italian food.. was totally worth it though :) at the Trevi Fountain. Can I tell you?! I loved Italy!!! The scenery, the history, the art and the food!!! Sigh...I want to go back....okay enough with the daydreaming lol here is the list of my supplies:

Spring Fling - Challenge #5

Yay!!! I just finished my last entry for Verve's Spring Fling and I'm so excited with what I came up with because it's something I actually really needed: a container for my Copic Markers!

I used a nearly empty Hot Chocolate Mix can, (what a great excuse to have a cup of hot cocoa ) peeled off the label and went to town on it until I ended up with this:

This adorable digi paper is from the Cottontail Kit (Sweet Shoppe) and Jen, in case you happen to come across my blog: Thank you so much for discovering this awesome paper!! Jen used it in one of her Sneak Peek cards and I just had to ask her where she got it from. :)

Let's see...what else can I tell you? Oh yeah, I used the Nestie friendly stamps from Waltzing Mouse to create that lovely border inside my label. I love how you get this funky, dimensional effect when you punch out the middle and have some of your letters spill over.

I used the Nightie alphabet set from TCP to spell out "Copic" and I used one of the flowers from Verve's set Wishful Elegance to complete my can. The flower is colored in using what? Well, my now neatly organized Copic Markers of course. :)

Faith Notebook

Something you probably don't know about me is that I'm a notetaker!! Yup - I looove to take notes! It is about the only thing that helps keep me focused. I'm kind of like the dog in UP, the movie?!

"Squirrel" - that is so me!

Anyway - I love to take notes in church for exactly that reason. Plus - then I have the luxury of refreshing my memory if I've forgotten something or need inspiration. **BONUS**

So that brings me to my project today: An ALTERED NOTEBOOK.

I got this little book at the $1 bin at Michaels. I opened the binder rings by just prying them open, took out the cover and the back and went to town.

The paper I used is from the Bo Bunny "Gypsy" Collection.

I love the colors and ethnic feel to it.

TIPS & TRICKS: when you cut the paper for your cover, cut it 3/4 inches longer on all four sides so when you glue it on, you can fold it over to the other side. No sharp edges and a much more professional look (in my opinion).

The tag is from the MME "Breaking Free" Collection. I used one of my favorite inspirational saying stamp from VERVE, some flower stamps and cardboard stickers to make it more unified.

TIPS & TRICKS: to get a more faded look stamp your stamp first on a piece of scrap paper before stamping it on your image.
