{Wise Magnets} January Diva Inspirations Blog Hop

Happy New Year and Diva Inspiration Blog Hop!!!!

I hope you had a wonderful start to the new year!!! We're doing things a little different this year over in Diva Inspiration land...our Blog Hops will be on the 5th of every month from now on (no longer the 1st). If you're right on track then you got here from Shannan's blog.

Let me get started on my little project here:
As many of you know already my dad was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer right before christmas. He started his chemo right away and well these are some cute little magnets I made, one for my mom and dad and one for me as reminders to stay strong and positive!

I used cardboard as re-inforcement, hot glue to get the little hardware details to stick (please watch your fingers...I always burn myself with that bloody thing :P) and then layered-distressed-layered (in that order ;). Oh and then a spritz of shimmer mist was the final touch!
Oh and one more little tip before I go and point you in the direction of my fellow Divas:
it's a little hard to see but the sentiments are embossed in black with some gold speckles in them. All I did for that was sprinkle black embossing powder on it first, gently tab it to lose some of it and then sprinkle gold embossing powder over that...apply some heat and there you go: black and gold embossing done!

Here are some detailed shots:

thanks so much for stopping by!!
Your next and last stop on the Hop is the one and only Susan Liles!!!
Tell her hi and give her a hug from me while you're at it! ;)

  15. Great projects. Sorry to hear about your father. I bought this same stamp set so i could make inspirational cards for my father. We found out right after i was married that he has 3 different kinds of cancer. he is in the city this week getting his last chemo treatment. When he starts to recover we will take one last family vacation. The Chemo has slowed down the cancer but he needs a bone marrow transplant and his insurance wont cover it because he has too many cancers. I am praying for you and your family.
